Sacramento: Viacom Takeover Official
Viacom has now closed on the acquisition of KOVR-13, creating the Sacramento market's second duopoly. CBS Broadcasting of Sacramento will operate KOVR; UPN Stations Group is the licensee of KMAX-31; ultimately, both may be located at the KOVR complex in West Sacramento, which has much more available room than the present KMAX studio on Media Lane. Viacom is still studying the feasability of expanding the KMAX building onto land adjacent to the studio.
